In addition to the numerous art spaces throughout our Enchanted Forest, Paradise Festival 2023 featured an incredible art piece by Dan Suttin.
The Kepler Ring-of-Pentagons Monument
This art installation was gifted to us from Dan Suttin, the founder of the Octa-Tetra-Museum and lifetime Math teacher who brings awareness to math and science in a creative way by incorporating art and imagination. He structured this monument based off of one ring of 10 pentagons. It is an absolute honor to house this incredible and mystical art piece representing “Harmony of the Universe”.
The Kepler Ring-of-Pentagons Monument measures 20 feet in diameter, and took 3 entire years to complete. We are deeply honored to be hosting such an incredible work.

The Keppler family, founders of Paradise Ranch, come from a long line of very accomplished and distinguished ancestors. One we have always held in very high regard and fascination is Johannes Kepler, 1571-November 1630 (yep, the one you learn all about throughout school!) Said to be one of the greatest astrological geniuses of our time; an astronomer, mathematician, astrologer, natural philosopher and writer of music. He is best known for his laws of planetary motion. Kepler was motivated by his spiritual conviction and belief that God had created the world according to an intelligible plan that is accessible through the natural light of reason. He described his new astronomy as “Celestial Physics”.
Our brother, Justin Keppler, (12/8/1984-8/1/2021) co-founder of Paradise Ranch Festival, was our greatest teacher of Johannes Kepler's work, spending many summers learning and reading his works in the family library at the Keppler “Big House” in Schroon Lake, NY. He was fascinated by his discoveries and saw how Johannes findings could remind us all of our divinity. Justin dreamed of bringing to life Johannes's theory of the Mysterium Cosmographicum, alternately translated as Cosmic Mystery, The Secret Of The World. Johannes proposed the distance relationship between the six planets, known at the time, could be understood in terms of the Platonic solids enclosed within a sphere that represented the orbit of Saturn. Kepler explained how the five Platonic solids dictate the structure of the universe and reflect God's plan through geometry.
Although our brother was never able to live out this vision in his time on earth, he has guided us to the gift of “The Kepler Ring-of-Pentagons”! A living art representation of Kepler's theory of “Regular Polygons and Polyhedra”, which was intimately related to his search for the laws of planetary system to his concepts about the “harmony of the universe”.
